PostSubject: Ghost Walkers   Wed Jun 02, 2010 5:45 am

I was thinking how I could do a cheats paint job quick and easy but gives the squad something different.

I saw the Space Marine captain that 02laney painted using only blue, white, and silver colours and the thought came to me about painting an etheral Imperial renegade squad. BUT of COURSE mine will be like a four year old has painted it compared to 02laney. infact the four year could do a better job then mine.

the concept behind this squad was pretty simple.

A loyal Imperial Guard squad finds themselves caught up in a daemonic ritual. the end result is they are traped in a plane of exsistance between real space and the warp. they can manifest themselves into a phyiscal shape and use the weapons they had when they were altered. They hate chaos and the Imperial forces equally for their current condition.

I'd still be using the IR list and rules.

So here is the start of the Squad:
Commander:

Sergeant:

Sergeant:

Ogryn:

It might look like they were dunked in a pot of ink but there has been at least three coats of dry brushing on the bodies, the skin has had two shading coats, the only thing not given anything were the weapons which were painted silver.

this was a knocked up squad from spare bitz and was a side project...

Cheers
LGW

The Sergeants are my favorite... very nice! The Commander seems to have a book, practicing his posture! Unfortunately... he has NOTHING on this girl...

Did he just graduate from EYe of Terror University (Cadian Campus)? Because it does look, from this angle, to be a mortar board. Just Kidding

Not that I can paint anything half as good.

These are great!

I love the Ogryn particularly the skin tones and the back story is cool as well. How do you get through painting so many minis so quickly (I get two or three a week if I'm lucky?

Cheers Laney cheers

@ 02laney:

I am a "table top paint" standard. I don't do a lot of details like your amazing work as long as my opponent can tell that is an Ogryn, heavy weapon specialist, I am happy.

the main problem with these figs was the original paint job that was on them was crap. So I chose to cover them up..

all I did for the Ogryn was:
  • painted all the clothing dark blue
  • painted the skin grey
  • then I picked out all of the muscles on his arms, face, with white
  • I painted all the armour and weapons platinum silver
  • dry brushed the clothing cloudy blue
  • added a dry brush of light blue on the clothing
  • did a final dry brush of white on the clothing
  • once all that was dry gave the entire miniature a good dose of blue ink.

as for speed painting I am on holiday at the moment and also I have a deadline of Friday to get at least three squads painted so I can have some options for the Demo game I am doing on Saturday..

And on a side note your the inspiration for this paint job....

Cheers

Yup was trying to do my best.

I wanted this squad to feel etheral and ghost like. hopefully I pulled it off.

Have added three more pics of the Commander will add more once I get some batteries for the camera.

Cheers

WOW!! thx for the comments..... Embarassed Embarassed means alot coming from such a talented painter like your self and 02laney.

to think I wasn't going to keep these minis and the squad was knocked up in a couple of hours and painted in an hour as well.

going to fix their bases up tonight and get ready to play alot of Death Squads in the weekend.

Cheers
