| anyone played this game from Fantasy Flight Games? Wings of War I got into this ages ago when I was looking for a flight sim type game. and Orginally was planning on doing only the WWII planes but boy was I wrong. I got to talking to the guys at the Wings of War Aerodrome [Btw: I am GreyWolf on there] and before I knew it I was getting into the WWI planes. Haven't touched the WWII series yet and not sure if I will.As the WWI version uses cards to represent damage [eg you draw a random damage card each time you shoot at another plane 0-10 damage + an explosion card<----instant death] whilst the WWII version uses "chips/tokens" plus they have different set ups eg fuel consumption, ammo restrictions etc etc.... the planes are pre-painted and are 1/144th scale for the WWI and 1/200th scale for the WWII planes. have a look see what you think.... Cheers LGW _________________ |

I have watched the fly boys movie heaps dam good movie. well the fight scenes are great. didn't like the main actor [that guy who played the green goblins son in Spiderman]
I am trying to save up some $$ for the balloons and also the new Deluxe box set due out in July...new re-paints and english rules....

| Yeah i know what you mean with the actor. but i had a good amount of planes but during a move i lost them or they ended up broken, so all i got now is 4 maybe out of 20. I haven't heard about the deluxe box what comes in it. Also it'd be neat if they'd combine tide of iron and wings of war into one some how. |

here is the info regarding the first Deluxe box set that sold out before any one cold get a copy. [plus this was never released in english speaking countires.[eg canada got french versions.]
| Quote: | Introductory set for Wings of War - Miniatures.
The Deluxe Set contains the basic rules, altitude rules, additional rules for bombing/strafing, several extra scenarios, two "A" and one "B" damage decks, a full set of player aids (4 game boards, many counters and 2 rulers) and the following 4 planes (including card, maneuver deck, and stand for each). This set has not been released in English:
Plane Pilot Country Fokker DR. I Manfred von Richthofen Germany Spad XIII Francesco Baracca Italy Sopwith Camel William G. Barker Great Britain Albatros D.Va Ernst Udet Germany |
the main difference with the above quoted box set and the new are:
Rules are in ENGLISH!!!!! the 4 planes you get in the set have been given a new paint job.
should be great addition to my collection.
