These are a couple figs I painted awhile ago trying to test different schemes. I went with a peadot pattern similar to a wwii german scheme.

The scheme is fairly simple to do. Im not going to list exact manufacturers colors because I tend to mix alot of my paints and use various manufacturers paints.
1. Paint the entire area in a yellow ochre color
2. Paint the brown splotches in irregular blob shapes and place small dots randomly around
3. Same as above but use a dark green color
4. Using a light green place small dots in the green area
5. The model on the left also has lighter yellow ochre spots
6. Using inks or washes apply a pin wash to the folds. Not I do not wash the entire area only in the recesses
7. Use a sand or bone white apply a thin highlight to the very edges of the crease. Do not over do this stage or you will ruin the camo pattern
Then paint the remaining areas of the model. I usually choose a solid color to provide something for the eyes to focus on unless I am painting moderns or something more accurate to real life.

NICE models!!! Very unusual cammo... by the description I would have laughed and bet money it would look horrible. I would not only lost the bet, but as I see how SPECTACULAR your models look, I would have had to pay someone to surgically remove my foot from my mouth!

Really... this cammo is good too! One day you should make a tutorial of your own!

I've got two squads of Cadians that I'm wanting to paint in urban camo. I did a test paint and everything looked fine. Then I gave it a black wash and it completely ruined the camo. One of these tutorials says to wash the base coat then paint on the camo. The other says to apply the wash directly into the creases and folds. Which do you think is the better method?

That depends. Doomie's camo is a proper expert effort and advises a pin wash in the folds and looks great. My methods usually require a wash over the basecoat, because that requires a lower skill level to get working right, however a heavy handed camo over the top can ruin the effect of depth. Washing after the camo is complete would probably work best if it was a very thinned down wash, otherwise it will obscure the camo (I wouldn't recommend it). Black washes are often used and might be a little heavy handed over the pale colours.

Don't know if this helps at all

Cheers Laney
