| got a question when I base my IR Mortar do I need to have one or two miniatures on the base and what size base do I use?
was planning on using a large base and having one mini on it....

The 60mm Mortar is an excellent addition to any low-tech army, who do not mind much about collateral damage even if it includes their own people. It provides excellent covering fire and is great at bombarding targets from long ranges.
Special Rules
• Weapon’s Strength: As Ammo
• Weapon’s Range: 6” – 30”
• Weapon’s Armor Penetration (AP): As Ammo
• Weapon’s Type: Indirect Fire, Heavy Weapon
• Weapon Deployment: The 60mm Mortar needs to be set up to be used. • Limited Ammo: A model using a 60mm Mortar has limited ammo available; he can carry four (4) Mortar Shell (Ammo) for the weapon. No other thrown weapons maybe carried by this model.
• Indirect Fire: Although this weapon is classified as an Indirect Fire Weapon, it still needs Line of Sight (LoS) to the target. See Grenades & Mortars sections for details.
• Heavy Weapon: This weapon is classified as a Heavy Weapon. |
So... why would you model a guys with the mortar if once you deploy the mortar you can't move it? Just take a mortar, put it on a 25mm (normal size) base, and when you deploy it you leave it as a marker. The 'user' may have only 1 shell to fire... after that he could go and move towards safety (coward) or the fight (he better!)_________________ . | Actually it was based on a 40mm because the IG mortar does not really fit on a 25mm.
I'll post some pics of it later tonight

mmmm would be good to see your pics.
I got the mortar onto a 25mm base.... it does over hang at the back but that doesn't bother me.
was going to make up a gunner for it with mortar shell in hand but realized that it was a "One shot wonder" so the mini would need to move off so I'll use two militiamen that I hadn't used in my first game to be the gunners for the two mortars i now have. I want to have the option to use two if I like them....[you never know when they will be handy  ]
