| This is turning into a very original squad - love the 'Lady' - would not want to mess with her!
The officer class all look very unique and the shotgun on the Coteaz body is ace - I love that model (Is it in finecast for ease of conversion yet?)

| Thanks for the kind words! I'm pretty happy with the enforcer, but like you lot, the Lady is turning out to be my favourite model so far. I haven't done much more recently, but I am getting on with it... | Laney wrote: | This is turning into a very original squad - love the 'Lady' - would not want to mess with her!

And yep, the Coteaz model is now finecast. Which is such a relief, as resin is so much easier to convert. The Commander, for example, was a joy to work on - I literally spent a few days carving away at the resin with a hobby knife until I got to the desired point.
More work will appear soon. I'm going to be popping along to my local GW soon to pick up some more odds and ends...
I must not spend more than £25...I must not spend more than £25....

I know that mantra! (never works - only time it did was when they undercharged me!)

| This week has not gone well so far. Work has been incredibly busy, and I've not really been in the best of health. So as it stands I haven't managed to get to GW to get some new models (although, on the flip side, maybe this is the mantra working? As I've not spent £25?), and only a little progress has been made on the squad. But all of that PALES in comparison to the experience of heading into my study to do some painting, only to discover "The Lady" model broken in 4 different pieces due to an unhelpful foot (the jury is out as to WHO's foot it was, though I suspect my own...) Thankfully, I was able to do a recovery job on it. Good news! When finacast models get snapped, they snap cleanly, and superglue is your friend...but yeah. stressy. On the good side of things, I've started my HW specialist - the Flamer. Would you like to see? I think you would. Be aware, its still very much WiP, but I'm loving it so far! The body and head are the servitor taken from the stormraven kit. The Flamer and fuel cells are taken from the cadian sprue. the other arm, though not very clear, is from the empire soldiers sprue. The "crotch" is taken from a Chaos SM Khorne Berserker pair of legs, and the "Legs" are 4 chainswords from the same sprue, snipped slightly and reglued. I like it! I'm not too sure how it'll turn out, but it appeals to me. Reminds me of that walking tank the Chaos SM's can have in 40k. As always, comments and criticisms welcome, Matt |

| That is an awesome servitor. Very original. I haven't seen anything like it. I can't wait to see it painted up.
I like that plastic servitor torso. I might have to try and get that part from somewhere. |

| Nice Servitor! Remember that there are rules to have a Hired Gun Servitor... so you build it, you use it fine!!! Thanks for sharing this wonderful mechanical maniacal creation!!! | Been a while since my last update, and I'm (un)happy to report absolutely no progress has been made. I didn't count on life being so busy, nor coming under attack from what feels like the plague of death. Sigh.
But! I will post soon, with pictures and so forth, as I'm starting to feel better, starting to get some energy and space, and starting to find my creative juices flowing once more.
Right, onto responses:
@Narcissus - thanks man! I'll try and do it justice. At the moment, I still need to make a few tweeks. For one thing, the legs sit wider then the base. So either I cut the legs up once more, or I try to get creative with the base...The body, as already mentioned, is from the stormraven kit. And in my defence, the reason I had it was that Hobbycraft (a huge hobby store franchise in the uk) was selling them off at £20 each a couple of months ago. At the moment, the rest of the kits still in the box, waiting for inspiration to strike.
@Komfritten - Thank you! I'm glad my stuff doesn't just look good to me.
@Mordenheimer - Oh man, there are rules for a hired Gun Servitor? I need to read the rules better. Truth be told, I wasnt going to count him as a hired gun servitor, just your average HW specialist, who just happens to be a servitor...I can see I need to do some work on the fluff. Give me time man, give me time...
Anyway, pictures will be coming up soon...I hope.

| WHAT?!? You received the of Nurgle and somehow you became less productive? You for sure jest! No wonder you are regaining your health, you ungrateful fool! I hope with all my heart that you get what you deserve... complete isolation from Nurgle. After you are abandoned by his Holy Touch, you sink in a misery so deep that you try, in a misguided but cute attempt, to regain that special something you felt while upon His embrace by building hundreds of awesome models models. You, Sir, spend too much time in these forums. Plus, Nurgle is but a pale shadow of himself through these times. The blessing of Khorne keeps me strong, for my Axe never knows peace except when singing through rivers of blood...
which is a weird way to say "thank you!"
And @Skavenslayer, I would love to see your take on a servitor as a HWS! Some minds are great, and others are just lucky...
And as for Mordenheimer's grasp of the rules, I don't really want to comment, in case I speak of what I don't know...but...I did read a story about...what was it...master-crafted power weapons a while ago? Maybe? |

| YOU TOO?!?! It will never end! Master-Crafted... I still shiver at my poor design process. I think that skavenslayer refers at my super-human (god-like) ability to FORGET the rules of ... even when I have to write EVERYTHING on TLRB! How many times have skavenslayer corrected me? Five? Six? Hell... I lost count! But I SWEAR there is a Gun Servitor Hired Gun (runs quickly to check TLRB)... yes!!! Volume 3, page 139! Sure, you could use your creation as a HWS without ANY issues. The way that the Unit can look is up to you. BUT... check out the Gun Servitor! Not only is cool (I designed the Unit with Lord Greywolf) but it offers some nice advantages. FIRST... like all Hired Guns, these are GREAT hidden treasures. You can start your Squad with any number of HGs. So, your Squad is limited to 2 HWS? With the proper HG, you could get another Heavy Weapon! You can do stuff like that... EXPLOIT the HGs!!! Then is the matter of cost. The Gun Servitor costs 26 Credits to Hire and 10 Credits to Upkeep. An IG HWS costs 36 Credits. So, you are saving 10 Credits for your initial Squad. The Servitor comes equipped (at no additional cost!) with the equivalent of Mesh Armor and Helmet; you 'value' of 35 credits. The HWS is as naked as he can be. The Servitor allows you to buy & equip any one (1) weapon, as long as it meets all requirements for the weapon’s use, of Rarity 7 or less without rolling for Rarity by paying for the weapon's full price; this means you could START with a Heavy Stubber! The HWS can't start with any items Rare 6 or above... so you have to FIND the item after the 1st game and pay full price. The Advancements are very unique for the Servitors. At the moment of Advancement, you get to roll on a special table and BUY the Advancement if you want it (if not, you loose this chance.) Considering this is a HG, you get a chance of getting/buying +1 Toughness or even a Skill! Not such chance with the HWS. On the long run, if you get the Gun Servitor to START with your Squad, it 'breaks' even with a similarly equipped (no gun, but one Advancement) HWS by game FOUR. Now... don't believe me. I tend to mess up the rules. HA! Read it yourself, or better yet... ask skavenslayer. He knows more than me! _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. | I'll have to make a note to look into the Gun Servitor, they seem like one hell of a solid buy.
Course...then I'd have to model one, and I have doubts about it turning out as nice as Sparrow2z's. |

| As promised, a picture! No work done in the painting, BUT a fruitful hunt at the local GW gave me reason to buy this: So yeah, there's the base models for the squad members. Now, all I got to do is work out a squad list before I start to put things together... @Mordheimer...a gun servitor...well, you make a very strong case for one! I think that's what I will do... @ClausLars - thanks for the compliment! It's most appreciated! Hope all are well! Matt |

| Hey all, Realised I've not updated this since...January...man, thats bad. Part of the reason (here come the excuses) is the prisoner exchange, and part of the reason is that I just haven't really been inspired. I want to do my best for each member of my squad. Partly, this is pride, and partly, this is because with a small number of members in a DS, there really isnt any excuse for "that'll do" style of modelling, especially since so many of you have set the bar so high. Anyway, today I had some time spare and found myself staring at a pair of tau legs (hey, the mrs was elsewhere) and inspiration hit! So without further babbling, heres a new squad member: As usual, apologies for the quality of the pictures, but it was taken quickly with an iPhone. the legs are tau. The feet, arms, body and head are from the empire militia. And the gun is from the Cadian squad set. As always, comments and criticism welcome! Matt |
