| So nice to see something from The Man of the forums at last you posted pics hehe. Good: The icon on the back of the boy! Strong themed (the red) - always a hit for me and the rust on the weapons tone them down - and I like that, I find that most metal really needs to be toned down / weathered. I like both the leather and the skin (the leather are best really) nice layering / use of washes. The bases are just right imo - they keep the groups ... coherent? Could be improved: The chainsaws seem to me to be a little "unfinished". Its the red really. As they improve the theme, I would tone them down and weather them a bit. Maybe some devlan / badab black wash, and then some bolgun metal highlight on the edges, to give it a more "used" feel. Just my thoughts here late at night |

| Komfritten: Thanks! The symbol for The White WAAAGH! is a white skull with a red jaw. All the little Ork glyphs on the guns & belt-buckles have it. The one in the back was an attempt to free-hand... I like how it came out. I guess I can draw as good as an Ork (no compliment at all!) I tend to paint with washes and drybrush to make simple layers. I think you are right... the chainswords seem... cartoonish? So clean. I may try some checkers... black & red? What you think? Gatlag: Thanks for the words of encouragement! I will try to do something I learned from Laney for the flamer BURNA! _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. Bursting with ARACHAS' Dev-Powah™! | Looks good Mordheimer. Good to see some painted products coming off your assembly line. I like how you have focussed on the overall theme of the group of models. They look good together.
For weathering the red chainsword you could try the sponge technique. Just use a small bit of blister foam or a stipple brush and do some areas of broken up brown. Then stipple a little boltgun metal and some rusty colors inside of that. Focus it along the edges and it should give it a great and very quick weathered look.
I like the squad markings system. I have been meaning to do this for my squads, but I can't remember which thread had them listed. Can you remind us of the system? Thanks. |

| Thanks Narcissus! I will try to do a quick checker pattern with the trick that Dozer and Laney gave long time ago. After that, I may try your weathering. GULP! System?!? No system... this is one of Dozer's ideas He suggested that we should put markings and names in the BACK of the model, instead of the front. He went into (yet another) ridiculous (but cool... don't tell him I said that) rampage about how much it speeds up the game. He calculated that we wasted ~5% of the game time figuring which model is which Fighter. Hehehe... what a nerd. And that is coming from me! HA Anyhow... I use lines (1, 2, 3, etc) for all the members of the same Recruit Groups. I also tend to use models that look similar. Group A models has top-hair and/or chain-sword thinggies. Group B models have Choopa & Blasta. I need to have my 3 Kommandos with 3 lines, my Lootas are painted by DeafNala (no need to mark 'em!) and I only have one Burna Boy assembled (need to make 2 more) but they may not need to be marked. The Officers I leave with names... besides, I recognize my Orks a mile away. _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. Bursting with ARACHAS' Dev-Powah™! | Good job Mord - ace work for a warm up!
I haven't got much to add the feedback you've had already is spot on. Is it the lighting or do you gloss (or maybe satin) varnish? I personally favour a matt finish on models (unless you are after a specific effect).

| Laney: It is the lighting... I tell you, I need to tweak my setup. My 'old' was was right on. I will make sure future pics are better. Komfritten: Read the tutorials...
