| A few months back I posted some WIP shots of some Imperial Renegades in the Paint for the paint god event. Since then they have mostly sat in a box. I painted two in a test scheme and didn't like it. I was overseas, so it was hard to find different colors to paint with. That was then. Group shot from 6 months ago. I have since picked them up again and have mostly finished converting a small squad. Here are some pictures. I will update this log as I paint them. Family shot 2 militiamen with pistols and close combat weapons and 1 militiaman with autogun Lads got talent hero with flamer, ogryn with buzzsaw, renegade commander with power sword and bolt pistol (in holster) Finally, some artsy shots of the new heros. Trashcan man. The boss. He has a bit of a star wars feel and attitude in my opinion. Any guesses as to what bits he is made of? I just made this interesting weapon today. I think it looks quite deadly, so I want to try and add them to a few more models. I also tried some new photo techniques for this picture. I put some tissues over two lights and set it up with a little background. It didn't really work too well. My camera is old and seems to be having a bit of trouble lately with focus and battery life and all of those important things. I need to figure out a new way to take good pictures. This almost caused a fire...

| Oh yeah, the ogryn is barely started! I have some cables I am going to run to his mouth and then his head will be covered in a big head cover. I can't decide if I am going to sculpt clothes on him or not. I was planning to, but he looks alright in the pictures as he is. I might just add a few little details and leave the rat feet and things. Thoughts? |

| YES! The second group shot is just awsome! Very scenic!
I just love when people mod, as I just took it up myself, and I'm quite impressed, and very inspired by your ideas. The stake bound to the hand is cool!
And on top, they look really evil... =) |

| Thanks Komfritten. I was trying to make sure they looked suitably evil. Most of the evilness is achieve through head swaps and nasty looking weapons.
I am a bit conversion mad. I convert everything. I actually can't remember the last time I built a model that was not converted in some way. Probably some of my chaos marauders. Some of these conversions took a long time. Like the arm carrying the jerry can on the officer-it took me ages to figure out how to attach a hand to the jerry can. Eventually I just cut the hand off and wedged a hand in there with some glue. |

| Wow! Where is that Ogryn! LOVE HIM!!!! Great model! Did you use Natural Light bulbs? The light looks yellow. Makes a HUGE difference. Also, you may need to do a 'white wash' if your camera allows (basically re-calibrate on white). _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. | Arachas-more coming soon.
Mordheimer-no new light bulbs yet. They looked very yellow before I corrected on my computer. The Ogryn is the Island of Blood rat ogre.
I need some opinions on the ogryn. Should I just cover his head and add some cables and things or should I go all out and try to sculpt some armour and boots? |

| Top notch renegades - as komfritten said, love the conversions always inspiring. On the ogryn - I'd make him a little more ogre - some leg armour and loose body armour should be enough - otherwise he may look a little too top heavy. Your commander is amazing. I'll guess the bits I can... Head: space marine commander plastic kit Body: the new generic chaos sorcerer plastic Backpack: chaos marine Holstered Pistol: chaos marine (older version?) Sword: chaos marine Skull belt buckle: a servitor - from the cadian command squad? I love all the subtle changes to create renegades - wrist blades (consider that idea stolen) , jerry cans, pipes, flagellant bodies - they do a great job of twisting the imperial look. The commander is a long way down the road to corruption, but I can see how he would cow the others into following him. Very cool weapons conversions too - the autoguns and shotguns are spot on. Cheers Laney |

Ahhh! Picassa is wonderful! The software is free, super easy to use and gives you 1 GB web album space (free!)_________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. | Laney-mostly correct. The skull is actually trimmed off of a chaos marine torso. The torso itself is Khorne Berzerker as is the holstered pistol. Grenades and pouches are cadian. Arms are catachan, sword and sword hand are chaos marine. Head is space marine commander (I think!). The leg area is the new chaos sorcerer.
I saw some great conversions with the new plastic characters that inspired me to make the commander. I am pleased with him. He looks commanding and dangerous and corrupt but still fits into the asthetic of the rest of the warband. I like having really commanding, obvious, and ornate HQs. I was stuck on it for a long time. I wanted something a bit bigger and more imposing.
I ordered the bits for the torsos of a few more plastic heros to convert into characters for this warband and other future ones.
I am still really torn on the ogryn. The muscley chest looks pretty cool. I could maybe keep the feral look by just adding armour plates to different places and not sculpting a full cadian chest plate and pants (plus that would be hard work). |

| As per Arachas' request, here is MOAR. I did a little more work. First I decided to try and make some masks like the Forgeworld renegades (which I think are some of the nicest miniatures in the whole citadel range). These are hard. Getting the proportions right and making the eyes is really hard. Not sure if I am pleased with it. Still need to sculpt a head on the fellow on the left. I started adding armour and a mask to the ogryn. I think I will just add plates and not full armour so I can keep the feral look. I like his chest too, and haven't decided on whether to cover it yet or not. I am 50% happy with the mask. I might tear it off and try again. What do you guys think? With no warning, today my girlfriend came across while I was working and started playing with green stuff. First she added a turban to a model and then made a snake and then decided to add a tail, make a pumpkin, and add ear muffs to these models. I am pleased she was interested. Now I am going to get her to paint her gretchin. Even better, tonight she agreed to play a game with me! First we played a little 2 vs. 2 match so I could show her how moving, shooting and combat worked. Then we played a small match (10 models each, included heros, cool weapons, and cool units) on terrain. It went pretty well. She says she enjoyed it. I was cursed with rolling really good injury roles on my shooting. Fortunately her orks ate my renegades alive in close combat and I ended up winning our annihilation match with only 2 models left. I had a really good time and she said she enjoyed it and would play again some time. Here are a few poor pictures from the match. A half painted ork burna boy hides in the ruins (she thought it was ridiculous that orks had funny names for things (shoota, burna, hard boy, etc). A grey wall of renegades picks off a lonely ork. |

| Great! I'm happy she enjoyed the game. Tell her to read the entry on Gretchins. She will get a nice laugh. Then tell her that I said that she IMPROVED on that Gretchin! Ear-muffs? Sure! So the poor little guy doesn't have to hear his companions scream while they are used as toilet-seat warmers WHILE the Orks are using the latrines! Heheheh... love the little pumpkin!
The pics look great, and the Ogryn looks AMAZING! I agree with you that metal plates attached with rope or chain would work better! _________________ . | Love the Ogryn. I would advise trying to just get some of the Renegade models off eBay, though. I mean, you can obviously sculpt them yourself... but the models really ARE amazing. And if you're lucky you can get them for far less than what you'd have to pay FW. _________________ Arachas - The one who changes Avatars more than Lady Gaga changes costumes - Bursting with Dev-Powah™!!Tau Squad Co-Lead Designer |
