Ok, I tried to make a riot shield and here's what I came up with:

I found the lid from an plastic ice box, which had the thickness I thought I wanted:



Then I cut out a strip 1½ cm:



Then cut it down to size of 2½ cm:



The corners was then cut off (no measurementes - just use your good eye):



The first layer is placed upon the strip, and I cut out another one:



There you have it - two identical pieces:



Then I drew out the top layer:



And cut it out - being carefull only to cut AWAY from the corners...



The two layers are glued together by your favourite adhesive / glue / .... whateevah:



Then I cut out the slid for looking through:



And I tried to make the effect of bolts on the shield by dropping some PVA glue on the top layer - do not know how that will turn out yet, but I'm looking forward to see it:



There you have it - the beginning of a riot shield.
