| Hello everyone. After the discussion of a new shanty set of plastic models available from a company I was thinking we should have a little shanty challenge. Build models from junk and simple, cheap materials and post it here! We can aim to have them finished in a relatively short period of time. They can be as simple or complex as you like. Post WIP and complete pictures here. I will put some joke competition categories below. When finished post some pictures, some tips on how you made it, and the total cost in supplies used (optional). The challenge: build a small set of shanty buildings with cheap materials. The categories: 1. Fastest built (First complete) 2. Most colorful 3. Most corroded 4. Most likely to be used as a hidey hole for a spineless sniper 5. Lowest cost 6. Least sturdy 7. Best action picture This challenge is to build something quick, fast, and simple. A nice, versatile, quick, easy piece for your boards. Lets try to get at least 5 entries! There is no date for this to be completed, but lets get some momentum and get them done fairly fast. GO! Mordheimer's Edit: STICKY! |

| I like it! I made this thread a Sticky! To make it more... "official"... I suggest we have people have until October 15th to sign up and then until December 1st to finish it. I think we could have two main winners. A Best Over-All, who earns everyone's admiration & respect, and Best Effort, who could earn a little something-something from volunteers (NO... Developers can't win anything!) We have wonderful terrain builders and then some of us (ME!) that can't build crap but would like to start (maybe I have some hidden talent!) I would love to see people trying, getting nice critiques and encouragement and improving. Maybe someone COULD win that no-prize price! Anyway... count me in! I'm moving ( LINK) so I may start building stuff by the 10th. I want to build area terrain! I need some place for my Eye Pokers to hide and be stealthy! I want to try for sure Narcissus' techniques, Laney's modular tiles and Komfritten's building techniques! PS: YES DOZER... I PLAN TO PAINT MODELS TOO!I know I said that a year ago... but THIS time I mean it! _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. | I have gotten started on mine as well. Originally I had planned to make a compact set that fit into a 3" high box, but now I am leaning towards making a couple of slightly larger pieces as well (as they take up more space!). I have two small pieces partially completed. Just need to figure out some good designs for the larger pieces and figure out how they will all fit together. |

| I *could* cheat and go on with my shanty compound, or make a new (yet I have no idea what it should be)
The piece will be on a base which fits the rest of my town. |

| Continuing with the shanty compound is definitely not cheating! Finish it up, push it to new levels, earn unending glory. |

| Nice idea for a contest! Think I'll skip it though as I still have about 8 or 9 boxes of City of Death material and some fantasy scenery as well. They wouldn't count as cheap. |

| You could always make a small shanty town build over and around a city of death piece... Not cheap, but still interesting and fits the idea of the challenge |

| Hmm I like that idea. Might give it a try, but first I want to finish another terrain piece idea I came up with last week. |
