| Hi,
After a surprisingly successful Mordheim games two weeks back. I got one new to Mordheim to join and another who hadn't played for years involved. 3 warbands fighting for spoils is hilarious chaos.
Now to get the two of them interested in Death Squads I need fun and different Squads for them to try out. The problem is that we lack 40k models. I've got a IG squad in the works and was thinking which 2 squads would suit them? I was thinking Orcs or Kroot for melee nastiness and then something that focuses some other style of play.
What would you say? Orcs sound fun to me, lots of fun conversion possibilities the squads I'm new to. |

| Chaos Cultists......come on over to the dark side, we have lemonade and cookies!!!!
In all seriousness, the cultists allow a level of customization not really seen in the rest of the squads. You could build a pure shooty squad, or go crazy with CC nastyness. Plus the conversion potential for all of the models is immense! Just check out some of the work that Laney has been doing in the painting section. _________________ Adeptus Astartes Commandments 1. | If You have other models:
WFB Orcs would by good as Orks. Recruits can go with two clubs, shootas can be made from imperial guard granade launcher and so on. if You consider som cheap 40k models try secondhand 'assault of black reach' orks from local community
Imperial renegates can be made from leftovers from your ig squad, mordhaim mercenary, wfb imperial militia and flagelants
For Kroots - one carnivor box and one-two hounds blisters |

| In terms of builds for minimum boxes of models. Obviously IG are a great start (couple of boxes of cadians - job done!). Orks are also pretty easy to build for a boyz box and an ard boyz box (grots are cheap and the trash kan is easy to make from bitz). Other than that Eldar are a great out of a few boxes squad. Dire avengers plastics, a box of scouts and a dash of creative modelling and job done! If you're after a modelling project - Cultists all the way (It would be sinful not to convert every model on those guys!). You can always use paper proxies to start playing straight away (Onemonk do their paper proxies for free - so you can play and get used to the rules while you squad build). EDIT: Great suggestions from tendi Cheers Laney |

| Thanks for the suggestions.
I've got a few khornate daemons from WHFB chaos and 40k border patrol of corrupt 13th company. My Dark Eldar could proxy craftworlders. There nothing more suiting for the Ordo Hereticus to fight than Chaos Cultists.
I'm also looking for squads that behave differently, that need different approach. I've got my balanced/shootier IG as one of the squads. I was thinking of making to more squads that are distinctively different. To get used to different playstyles and see what suits us. |

| In terms of alternative gameplay - the cultists then, as DoZer had it. and for close combat orks (never played kroot) Laney |

| Imperial Renegades! They are human, so you could take almost human model you have. _________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer. | I've got nothing against human squads. We played our game of Mordheim with Witch Hunters VS Reikland Mercenaries VS Bretonnia, guess what warband I played.
My plans are to convert a Cawdor gang using models of my IG squad based of flagellants. The same IG squad can also be used a Radical Inquisitor squad(Renegades) with no starting mutations. I can proxy the renegades if they face my IG.
The Cult is a definitely a nice project to work on and a characterfull at that. I'm building on my corrupted 13th company theme. So some bestial cultists might be in store.
Third new squad will be Orks as I can proxy the Eldar with their Dark cousins.
Thanks for the help!
Now I need to figure out what bitz I need for cult and to "complete" my IG squad. |
