| Hi all,
First I must congratulate all who were involved in the production of Death Squads, it is an awesome piece of work.
My Game group have been thinking of running our first 40k game (we're all expats in Japan) for the summer, and with that in mind we started thinking of playing a Necromunder campaign. While we all have Warhammer armies most of us haven't collected much in the way of 40K models, so a skirmish size game seemed like the way to go. Whilst looking at the options I was fortunate enough to come across this site.
Well to cut a long story short we decided this is the rules set for us. That heady mix of old school detail mixed with a well thought out rules set was all win.
I'm personally running toward an IG squad, although I'm also a big fan of squats.
Again thanks for all the effort everyone has put into this... I just wish I wasn't so late to the party!
See you on the forums

| Welcome. I'm a pretty new face here myself, but don't feel bad about being late. I just figure that means I'll benefit from a whole lot of refinement that that time has brought. |

| Late! My dear friend, we've only reached version 0.6! You're still VERY much on time. Awesome that you've decided to give the game a spin. We'd very much like to hear your stories and - much more important - see your PICS! Post some battle reports and show us your models! Welcome to ! And shall I say Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu! ^_^ _________________ Arachas - The one who changes Avatars more than Lady Gaga changes costumes - Bursting with Dev-Powah™!!Tau Squad Co-Lead Designer

| Welcome to Death Squads! Glad you like it - still lots to do though. For example, we aren't anywhere near touching the hallowed ground of the Squats (or should I say Demi-Urg?), let alone Inquisitors, Rogue Traders, Tyranids, (Necron - maybe just maybe). Not even the Space Marines are here in full force yet. So lots to do - but for now good to have you on the forum. Laney |

| Thanks for the warm welcome,
When we kickoff the campaign (probably in a couple of months) I will definitely try to post the action (with pics) as it unfolds. I'm also working on my Athonian Tunnel rats as we speak so when I have enough done to warrant some pictures I'll start some kind of painting/modeling blog on here to keep me keen.
The guys on the Space Dwarf Online forum would love to help to get some rules set up for squats in Death Squads. I noticed in another thread that someone mentioned that a calculator of some kind was used to determine the points costs. We don't have access to the calculator obviously but if people here are happy for us to have a go then I'm sure the guys would jump at the chance. |

| The design behind is quite intricate and we like to be able to control the process. If you want to have a go at the Squats, please be our guest! But we do ask you do it on your own forums. We'd like to keep our own forum focused on the 'official' squads and designs. That said, we're always looking for eager minds to feed the Emp-... I mean help us develop ! Check here for some info on how you can do that. Basically it means staying involved, posting about your games (so we know you've got experience with the game, before you start developing) and stuff like that. Let me emphasize that we absolutely encourage new ideas and thoughts. The thing is that when people start posting their own squads, that requires our attention and energy. Which we'd prefer to focus on the goals we've set for ourselves. Right now, those are a couple of new squads (amongst which Space Marine Scouts, Adeptus Arbites and Tau) and the evergoing revision of the rules. So my advice to all of you guys would be to first play the game, see how it works, get some deeper understanding of its inner mechanisms and THEN start designing new stuff, preferably as part of the team. =) _________________ Arachas - The one who changes Avatars more than Lady Gaga changes costumes - Bursting with Dev-Powah™!!Tau Squad Co-Lead Designer |

| That sounds fair enough, I can understand not wanting clutter on the site.
Like I said I'm going IG for the campaign so we'll be using existing rules. The main thing holding the campaign back is that one of the players wants to play marines. So we're hoping that some scout rules come out at some point (to keep him happy).
Like I said I'll post pictures as and when games start happening.
Cheers,

Yeah, marines have been on the list for a while and many people want to play them. We've got a player like yours in our group as well: he wants to jump in as soon as they arrive.
The main reason for delaying the marines is getting them to work on a skirmish scale. You can't just slap on the extra stats, increase costs and go: it makes marines absurdly strong starting out, but more importantly: they don't work at all when faced with the economic system of the game. Meaning that if you lose a marine (which, despite their high stats, is still a real possibility) you'll almost never be able to replace him. Let alone lose a second or third to a lucky shot.
We're currently testing out mechanics, such as a lower recruitment cost combined with an upkeep, in the Chaos Cultist squad. So far that looks promising and Scouts are the next step. It will take some time for them to reach the testing phase, though, so I'd really recommend you talk your friend into trying another race. If he absolutely wants a marine, he should play Cultists!_________________ Arachas - The one who changes Avatars more than Lady Gaga changes costumes - Bursting with Dev-Powah™!!Tau Squad Co-Lead Designer |

| Welcome Sparrow! It is GREAT to have you here! I hope that our communal effort does maximize your gaming experience. Like you, we are all fans of 40k and love story-based skirmishes. Some of us happened to be stupid enough to fall into the "I can do THAT..." while others were tricked ( style) into joining the effort! Like Arachas VERY well said, play the game as it it... find what you like, post questions (as well as answer others), post battle reports (with pictures) and pics of your models (I love pics!) Once you get that 'other' side of you could join the Development Team and make a coordinated effort to bring YOUR favorite group to a reality. That way not only you and your group, but the whole world-wide community benefits and becomes enriched by your creativity. (Yes... that was my style speech... hopefully you fall for it and join the Dark Side! ) That said... WELCOME!!!_________________ . The Mordheimer - Death Squads' Chief Editor & Ninja Designer.
