| Thanks guys, Little way to go on it yet - I won't be able to work on it for a few days - we have family visiting (so maybe an update on the 30th - I need to go to the model shop for more materials anyway). Then it will be painting - with plenty of pics for camouflage tutorials for Arachas - Aiming for whole squad finished by end of January! Laney |

| Text Wall ahead. Hidden (as Spoiler text), as otherwise you'll have to scroll for ages to get to Laney's next awesome post. | Spoiler: | | | Can't believe I haven't commented on this again - I'm sure I've written something two or three times and then didn't post for one reason or another. Anyway...
| Quote: | | It's great to get constructive feedback: funnily enough what you commented on (being well built) was what I was after this time round. |
Its always nice to hand out commentary that is exactly what someone wanted to hear - it is the best type of advice!

Thanks for that titbit. I'll see if I find a use for one at some point!
I think the sniper rifle on your Sneaky Boss is really nice as well, huge but balanced by the bi-pod which also makes it seem usable rather than an unrealistically huge gun. The paint job has really rounded them off and the base upgrades the model into a mini-diorama. I hadn't noticed at first that there are two different camouflage patterns on him (armour and skin) which makes it seem much more Ork-y and less Imperial Guard. I might have considered giving the backpack a third colour, maybe a utilitarian green to separate it from the armour and make it look looted.
Thanks for the tutorials for all the paint techniques. Not sure I'll use them but great to have the option.
With regard to the 'Hole gang' post: The 'ard boyz are amazing, really threatening and dangerous which is exactly the right feel / character. Where do the backpacks come from? Are they greenstuffed, like on one of the boyz? I'm not sure about the Powa Suits – not because of your work which I think is great but because I'm not sure I like the idea too much. Your execution of it is amazing and has forced me to re-evaluate their role in the squad (pure coolness and silliness). The use of soft caps on the boyz really makes them seem like a commando force (the Red Berets) rather than a standard Ork mob. Its a small thing but a really intelligent way of characterising their uniqueness from other Orks. I like both weirdboyz and would happily use either / both. There are a few things I'm not sure about – Grofag the An Gri (should that be Angree?) is carrying some seriously large wargear which makes him seem too much like a nob rather than a freakish outcast as the wierdboyz are depicted. I'm also not convinced by his 'dreads' but I'm sure you have a good idea for these which will come together in painting. Werzgrot Da Twisded Wun on the other hand is mutated which has basically been written out of the more recent fluff (unfortunately). I think it looks really cool, like an Abomination from “Age of Wonder” but I can see why some people might be a bit thrown by that. The pose is also quite low, since both arms and the head are angled downwards (if only slightly). In a way his pose is exactly the opposite of Grofag's very open stance.
As a suggestion for magnetising the Chinork – maybe use a metal panel for the base of the transport section and add magnets to the inside of the Kommandoz's bases. The Kommandoz are very nice, especially the backpacks. I like the very dynamic poses but I think they somewhat detract from the sneakiness which so characterises Kommandoz. I guess they could already have infiltrated and are now charging down their surprised foes!
As an amusing note (warning minor name drop ahead) – I once met a American helicopter pilot who had been part of the flight-wing (not sure that is the right term) of the Black Hawk of “Black Hawk Down” fame. He hadn't actually been in the air when the Hawk went down but that was a matter of luck (since the whole flight wasn't deployed). He claimed. Since it was at an arms fair with several military representatives present I would be inclined to believe him. |

| Thanks for the great info and detail Jammer! (much appreciated!) The idea with the Kommandoz is that they are dropping out of the chinork to infiltrate. I think Werzgrot will probably end up in the force to finish (I love the fluff too much!). The backpacks on the 'ard boyz are greenstuff with a few extra bits from the plastic nobz pack. Lots more to do on Da Blakhork, but not yet (family visiting). Laney |
