not sure I understand your comments. is the list "over the top" or "power playing" etc???

just went with weapons I had in my bitz box. I'll change the commanders web pistol to a lil burner...but the preacher is going to keep his webpistol.

The Web Pistol is a little crazy... but it will work. Remember that they have a Rare 7 value, so you can't get them on initial recruitment of the Squad... same goes for the bolters, chainsword and shotguns. You could buy Mesh armor for your Officers.

I do not think you are 'power-playing'... this is part of the Ninja Design of no rares on staring Squads. Limiting the rares on stating Squads allows everyone to start n the same balanced footing... and as the campaign progresses, you get better gear, which feels like an advancement (because the fighter is more efficient). dwi HATES not being able to buy Rares on recruitment, it has proven over and over again that it makes for a more balanced campaign. You could save the cash, and hunt the weapons so you get them by game two... or get you an Ogryn!

If you and your buddies want to play a bloodier (and shorter) campaign, you guys can house-rule to start with rares. This would take the IG Captain advantage, thou. I would say, don't worry that the initial models are not WYSIWYG... Death Squads has been designed so a normal Campaign is 15 games, and a long one over 25. Mordheim campaigns start breaking up after 10 games. Death Squads is for the long run. Hmmm... I believe I mentioned somewhere that I would guarantee that no matter what you did, your starting Squad would feel under-powered and this was designed on purpose so players would see quick improvements? Wink

But, if it is any consolations... your models are AWESOME!!! Second best to 02laney's Grots in Powa Suts!

Ya it's a little on the INSANE WARBAND FROM HELL! side. At least for a starting warband. Game wise: I think you will find it more fun if you just went with a smiple band with 1 or 3 rare things if you want them. Then finding more and... well you get the idea. Fluff wise a webpistol is *looks in TLRB* rare 8, now that may not seem like much, however my ONE shotgun on my ImpRens is pushing it fluff wise. An renagade warband is only likely to have smiple stuff like autoguns, las guns, a flamer here and there etc, haveing more than one thing like a webpistol in the warband at the start would be if the band was realy rich.

You can do them now... you get to CHOOSE the mutations. Dozer explained this to me as...

Mutant #1 goes to the front desk.
"Errr... is this where I can sign up? I hear you guys are looking for... errrr... special people?"
"Sure. What you got kid?"
"My eyes... they are kindda bulgie. I can see very well for afar and...."
"Shut up freak! We don't like your bulging eyes kind. NEXT!"
Mutant #2 walks in and punds his three fists on the table.
"You bitches better not mess with me... I had not had my coffee yet!!"
"Sir, we have rules over the hiring process..."
Mutant #2 spits acid at the man from one of his two heads, while the other rolls his eyes in disgust.
"AGGGHHHH!!! My face is melting!!!"
The Commander pokes his head from his office and moves his tiny reading glasses down his nose.
"You are hired kid. Go, get rid of Bulgy Eyes boy... he is trying to give me the evil eye."

Hhehehe... basically you get to choose which mutants you want on your Squad. After that, you are at the mercy of the Dark Gods. Just Kidding

ok did the rolls

here are the results:

Renegade close combat/tactical [eg bolter/chainsword build]

Scorpion tail [35pts]
Demonic Spirit [50pts]

Renegade master-blaster [eg shotgun build]

extra arm [35pts]
mutated hide [30pts]

and I now have 17pts left and the squad is ready to go.

was amazed how many times I rolled up #7 on the first one before I rolled 8. [4 times in a row LOL ]

I suggest you buy grenades or SOMETHING with those 17 credits. Remember they are part of your 50 credits bonus... use 'em or loose 'em. Funny... both have 2 Obvious mutations... hehhehe... some of your people may leave in the future!
