On the Sniper... I have no doubts it was VERY hard. The job is really good, but you may want to give your 2nd method a try. If the result is the same, with less effort, it would be well worth it.

On the Eldar... to 'fix' the other gems, why don't you try LIGHTLY drybrushing with blue where the red glow is? You may kill some of the 'shininess' this way. It may have two good results; 1) remove the distracting 'blood effect'. 2) make the other gems (back and chest) even more bright.

Dude... you are making me sick! Puke I have been TRYING to paint for the last 4 weeks... and I only got 5 models half way done. You are a painting machine... and a good one at that! Keep 'em coming... I rather cry at the sight of your beautiful models than at my lack of time! Wink Yes... envy is an MMA Fighter and has me tapping for mercy!

Hi Mordheimer - thanks again for the feedback - this is really helping me.

I'm currently posing a second sniper - lying down on a bike base - should be easier to place the gauze strips over it that way (and with more room for interesting base stuff) - I'll give it a go and post some pics, ogryn coming on nicely too (I think tattoos may be in order for him).

I tried the toning down on the exarch (plus I've modelled a second - to counts as the dire avenger aspect warrior), using skull white, bleached bone and astronomicon grey (again I'll post later - I should be getting ready for work!).

I've only been quick this week because I'm a teacher and I have been on half term (so in between taking my lad to the zoo and playgroup I've had loads of time to paint). Production will slow down for a bit (and during my house move - stop completely!), but then my wife has given me a workshop all of my own! (no more painting on the dining room table and avoiding my lads throwing skills).

Hi Everyone,

Aldo 'Dutch' Kurtz (my Ogryn) is now complete, so I thought I'd post some pics and show you my WIP second sniper effort (he will get a paintjob before the suit is applied). I had to convert him to be lying down and I know its a little awkward, but the suit will cover up those parts - the legs are empire militia (they worked best lying down). Sorry about the third picture by the way - it won't seem to come out upright (it is on my computer!)

Enjoy - as always feedback is good cheers

Also mini-campaign with my gaming group is due to start friday week... just working out the fluff. Including four squads...
The 10th/95th Varangians
Imperial Renegades (as yet no name - but a little bit nurgle in their outlook)
The Orks of Blood Axe Kaptin Shank RipRot (great bit of fluff for these guys - I'll post later on)
The (as yet unnamed) Craftworld Eldar

Your models make me ashamed of myself!!!! They are SO COOL! That Ogryn is INSANE!!! Wow! Very good job. The urban camo is nothing short of amazing. You have some mad skills! The bar-code on the back of the neck is super!

I can't wait to see the new sniper! I'm really excited about your models. Something else indeed! The sniper model looks VERY cool... and after you put the camoline suit it would be PERFECT. Please keep sharing.

I'm also prtty giddy to read about your upcoming adventures. You are in for a great treat... looks like you guys will have a great time. Keep us posted... I love stories as much as photos of models... so I will read everything you and your friends write!) Very Happy

Dude that Ogryn is sick!!

I love the pose for the laying sniper.....but I do have to point out game functionality...... It will be a hard model to play with on elevated positions and tight corners.....

Also, to measure shooting you measure from the base.....which the model is on the bike base like you stated before. So in essence it would be a double edged sword for you, as you might be able to get longer range, but then it would be easier for your opponent to hit you from the sides or behind.

Just something for you to think about.

Good point Dozer! Like always, you are the one that has to wake everybody up from our great daydreams... cool sniper dude.

I would suggest that you ALWAYS talk to your opponents and make sure that the 'model' should be on the front of the bike base... you could glue a round base under the bike's base (on the front) and painted bright yellow... so everyone knows where the 'model' is. Also remember that regardless how the model is up on a rock, standing, crouching or laying down, for Line of Sight purposes EVERYONE is the same height as a model standing straight.

No more progress on the Varangians at the moment - but I did partly fix the Exarch (I've included the built squad so far).

I can see the playability of the sniper might be an issue (I rarely worry about that kind of thing when basing models - I'm not a competitive player so it doesn't matter usually) - he's basically just a concept proving model (trying out the camouflage again) rather than a real Varangian. I like the idea of creating an extra 'real' base for games - I may be able to magentise it - so I can take it off for display.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

Cheers

Well, if you and your mates have that attitude... then no worries! As a matter of fact, I stopped today by the local 40k Tournament and saw cool parts of the game Dozer's Dark Angels vs jd3's Eldar. Although it is a competitive environment, and them playing each other constantly, nothing like seeing those two being VERY polite and respectful to each other. They both enforced the rules, and on instances that something felt weird they would immediately ask the opponent for a ruling if it could be done and take the others verdict.

That sniper of yours is SUPER! Who ever says the contrary, you send directly to me... since I'm a nice guy, I invite them to lunch. They can have one of these...

* In the USA, they call this a Knuckle Sandwich

On the Eldar... if you could take a picture of the fixed model on a white background (so the flash does not wash it)... looks A LOT better, but I can't really tell. I'm distracted by the awesome model beside it. Just Kidding

After the damage to Captain Reismann in the first game - I felt the need to model a new version of him (the old one will become Lieutenant Sharpe - who fought off an Aspect Warrior and Warrior Aspirant - forcing their rout by putting the aspirant OOA - it also saves me a paintjob - which are stacking up!)

Anyway here is...

The all new Captain Alex 'Ice Cold' Reismann aka 'Captain Gimpy' pirat WIP

I've tidied up the procreate armour plates since these pictures
