Thanks!
Right now (as we speak) we are working on new Squads, which will be our main focus for some time. The core rules are very solid, so we don't expect any major changes... although some additions will come after the more 'popular' Squads are created.
We are tinkering with 3 Squads: Kroot Mercenary Squad, Tau Squad and the final addition/revision for Imperial Guard Regional Squads (IG customization for Catachans, Death Korps, etc.) I would say that they are at 90%... the last tweaking and balancing is always the hardest! They may or may not be included on TLRB v0.4.0... depending on the proof reading processes. If not, they will be included as part of the next revision TLRB v0.4.5 but since the Core Rules will not change, they will be an easy print.
After those Squads are 'out of the way' we will resume our work with the Chaos Cultists (CC) and the Space Marine Scout Squads (SMSS). BOTH Squads are sitting idle at 70% completion. They need the creation of their Depots and some serious Math-hammering before their Beta-Testing. Both Squads will provide players with a GREAT feeling about them
The CC allows for uber customization. Each of the Officer can have one of the five Marks Of Chaos, each giving you a distinct characteristic. So yes... expect to be able to create a Nurgle or Khorn themed Squad! As your evil grin grows wider, now think of the
Cirque du Soleil balancing act that we are trying to pull. GW (IMHO) suffers from 'the latest Codex is best' syndrome. The Space Wolves (schedule release Oct 3rd, but I read the Codex) is the best army by FAR... it used to be the IG (previous release) and the Space Marines (released before that!) Who plays Dark Eldar? Nobody. Why? Because they can't compete. For us, the challenge in design is that EVERYTHING has to be balanced against everything. Our 'benchmark' is the IG Squad; this means that you can play IG and be competitive against any other Squad without sacrificing fluff. This will allow anyone to play ANY Squad, and still be competitive, fair and have fun! The CC will prove quite a challenge.
The SMSS has a critical importance; it will be the foundation for other Space Marine Squads. We plan to create Deathwatch as well as 'template' for players to create their own Chapter-based Squads (like Bloodquest.) The pressure is high to get them right. 40k is an 'army' size game, and doing a reduction in size presents LOTS of difficulty. For example, based on fluff... if our Ork Mob can have 18 Orks, the a Space Marine Squad to fight them should be 1 Space Marine. Well, maybe 2, so the guy doesn't get lonely. Now, in game terms it would be silly to have an 6 men Squad. In order to increase their numbers, retain their 'power' and increasing their numbers without off-balancing them requires lots of out-of-the-box thinking. Not to worry... we have our best people on it!
A final hint, we are on the conceptualization phase for Tyranids (my babies!) and they will be fun to play... again, very outside-the-box thinking and design required for them to work on our scale without butchering them.

So, let us know what your group is interested... post your experiences (good and bad) on the Campaign section so we can contact your to stress test our new Squads!
