We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers to stress test any Experimental Squad. This means that, if chosen, you will receive a Contributor tag which grants you access to the Developers & Contributors' Private Areas of the forum. You will then receive would receive documentation regarding the Experimental Squad so you can play with it with your group. You will then submit comments, ideas and suggestions on the private area of the forum to help us tweak the Squad to its final form. How can you become a Beta-Tester and help develop new Squads? The requirements to become a Beta Tester are:
  • Have a solid understanding of Death Squads' most current version of TLRB (rules.) This can be achieved by playing 4-5 games... and asking questions in the forums! Changing the rules to fit what you think is proper without asking is not wanted. You may do that in your own games... but we need you to test the Official Rules. We spend hundreds of hours balancing things in ways that you may not be aware... Death Squads has been designed to excel in long campaigns (20 - 25 games, while most skirmish can't fall apart after 15 games) so many things are the way they are to stand such grueling pace. We do WANT your feedback on rules, but don't go changing stuff thinking you know better; ask questions about the rules first - we will answer them. After you get answers, make suggestions to the rules - we will tell you our opinion; chances are we already tried your idea and we can tell you why it did not worked... if we have not tried it, we will write and test your idea with all available Beta-Testers!

  • Belong to a stable group (2 or more players) that is currently (or willing to re-start) playing Death Squads. While you can still help by playing solo, we know it is almost impossible to find bugs this way. Besides... who are you gonna show your models? Wink Get a group and join the fun.

  • Have posted on the Campaign Section of the forums at least one battle report of your Death Squads games. Battle Reports are not only a nice and fun way to share your experiences with everyone, but it show us (Developers and Contributors) that you are playing the game. It help us find errors... if everyone starts at the table-edge and park there, we know there is something odd. Also it shows your mastery of the rules (some questions on wording may arise and you are actively helping us get things right.) The more reports, the better. Comments regarding game mechanics and your experience a PLUS! The posting is the evidence we seek to know you understand the game. Pictures are nice, but we are looking for content!

  • Be able to understand that this is a preliminary test, and many things may not work or will be changed. You would be receiving a fairly complete Squad... but many things may not be up-to-par. If you want a final product... WAIT. The Squad maybe fine in paper, just to be squished in every game by game mechanics (not counting your bad rolls!)... somethings may look fine, and we will ask you to try something else. Its part of testing!

  • Willing to take conventional and non-conventional approaches to game-play. We want you to BREAK the Squads, so we can FIX them! Please note that that by the word WE, we actually mean the Development Team. If you go and change the rules without consulting, you are wasting everyone's time. For some games we may ask you to test X Unit or Y rule; your job is to play with X Unit and Y rule... EXPLOIT them to the point of Cheese. Then when you report back, explain how you did it and give suggestions.

  • Willing to give massive amounts of input on the topic. Post, post, post! One-liners do not cut it either. You must be willing to post extensive details, so we learn from your experience and opinions. We want to know what you like, what you dislike as well as what your group think of the Experimental Squad, its units, rules and equipment. Your suggestions on the topic are also a critical part; if you see something wrong... we want to know how you think it can be fixed!

  • Willing to receive massive amounts of input on the topic. Yes, that means receiving 5-10 email a day from 4-5 people at the busiest times! We are trying to do everything in the forum, to minimize this... but if the ideas flow by email, its almost the same to many of us. The point of the forum is to allow other Contributors to help... so you would have to check (and post) often!

If you are STILL interested... go ahead and organize your group and learn the newest rules. Start posting on the Campaign section, comment on the rules (what you like and don't like), what would you like to add or remove, battle reports, etc. Become an active member! If you have enthusiasm, we want to hear about your group! Post on this thread any questions! Very Happy

GREAT! Start posting your battle reports (this is the most important part as it shows you can play AND brings up questions about the basics... before you jump into testing!)

When you are ready... let us know!
